Mini-Course Day 5:
Teacher Interview Intangibles
Lesson 5: How to Increase Your Likeability in the Interview
Let’s face it, given several viable candidates for an open position, a school is afforded the luxury of being selective. Likeability becomes every bit as important as experience or teaching skills.
In the context of the teacher interview, likeability is relevant for two reasons:
First, it’s human nature that the people in the interview panel will, all things being equal, be apt to select the candidate who is more likable. After all, they will be working with you.
Second, teachers work with upwards of 150 young people every day. It makes sense that schools want staff who get along with and are well-liked by the kids.
